Hailed as an ‘industry-first’, an agreement between the largest online seafood trading platform in the world, Gfresh and the China Certification and Inspection Group Canada, was signed during the last edition of the BC Seafood Expo in early June.

Thanks to the signed agreement, suppliers on Gfresh will have access to a Canada-based pre-inspection of their products heading to China. The inspection service is provided by a third party, which has Chinese approval already. When fully functional, the procedure will be able to reduce considerably, up to 90%, the time normally spent in customs clearance. CEO and Co-founder of Gfresh, Anthony Wan said of the agreement that it was the “quickest and easiest trade route into China yet.”

Having the assurance that their goods are custom passable before even leaving their Canadian departure ports will allow suppliers on Gfresh to offer to their Chinese trade partners the quickest and most direct trade possible, saving money and curtailing the time it takes to get products into the booming Chinese markets.
