{"id":5359,"date":"2023-06-30T16:33:42","date_gmt":"2023-06-30T20:33:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/clearit.ca\/canadian-customs-broker-blog\/?p=5359"},"modified":"2023-06-30T16:33:43","modified_gmt":"2023-06-30T20:33:43","slug":"health-canada-proposes-changes-to-toys-regulations-and-wants-your-feedback","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/clearit.ca\/canadian-customs-broker-blog\/health-canada-proposes-changes-to-toys-regulations-and-wants-your-feedback\/","title":{"rendered":"Health Canada proposes changes to Toys Regulations and wants your feedback"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>If your business involves importing toys into Canada or manufacturing, distributing or selling toys in Canada (or if you\u2019re just a consumer or someone with an interest in this topic), then Health Canada wants your feedback on its proposal to change the Toys Regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Notice, Health Canada has identified an opportunity to modernize the existing regulations under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act (CCPSA), portions of which have not been updated since the original Hazardous Products Act (HPA) was introduce in the 1970s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These updates would include minimizing exposure to harmful chemicals in toys, reducing the reliance on animal testing in toys, and adding requirements for finger paints, chemical toys, liquids, pastes, putties, gels, powders, and items of avian feather origin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Interested stakeholders can submit their comments and questions on the proposed changes, which include the following topics:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The changes to the regulations being considered cover seven different topics:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>toxic substances<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>corrosive, irritant or sensitizing substances<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>specific toxic substances (boric acid and salts of boric acid)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>migration of certain elements (aka heavy metals)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>finger paints<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>liquids, pastes, putties, gels, powders and items of avian feather origin<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>chemical toys (sets) other than experimental sets<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/health-canada\/programs\/consultation-proposal-amend-toys-regulations\/document.html\">View the Notice of Intent to amend the Toys Regulations and submit your feedback here.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To stay informed on trade news and other important updates, <a href=\"https:\/\/clearit.ca\/clearance_step2\"><strong>PARTNER UP WITH A CUSTOMS BROKER HERE<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If your business involves importing toys into Canada or manufacturing, distributing or selling toys in Canada (or if you\u2019re just a consumer or someone with an interest in this topic), then Health Canada wants your feedback on its proposal to change the Toys Regulations.
