The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has concluded an expedited review of the following Chinese companies who ship products to Canada that are subject to the Upholstered Domestic Seating case of the Special Import Measures Act (SIMA).<\/p>\n
For the purposes of the review, upholstered goods are broadly defined as including sofas, chairs, loveseats, sofa beds, day beds, futons, ottomans, stools, and home theatre seating that are upholstered with a covering of leather, fabric, or both.<\/p>\n
The following products are excluded:<\/p>\n
Expedited reviews are conducted by the CBSA upon request of an exporter to review the normal value, export price, and amount of subsidy on goods subject to a particular SIMA case currently in force.<\/p>\n
As a result of the investigation, normal values have been issued to these exporters. Imports of subject goods from these exporters which have been sold to Canada at or above the normal values issued, will not be subject to anti-dumping duties.<\/p>\n
It is the importer\u2019s responsibility to calculate and declare their\u00a0anti-dumping\u00a0duty liability. If importers are using a customs broker to clear importations, make sure you provide your brokerage firm with sufficient information necessary to clear the shipments, since they are subject to SIMA measures.<\/p>\n
To determine their\u00a0anti-dumping\u00a0liability, importers should contact the exporter(s) to obtain the applicable normal values.<\/p>\n
Should the importer disagree with the determination made on any importation of goods, a request for\u00a0re-determination\u00a0may be filed.<\/p>\n
