Whether it&#8217;s for a day, a weekend, or a month &#8211; We&#8217;re setting the record straight on personal exemptions.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As a Canadian Citizen or Resident of Canada returning from abroad, duties and taxes are applicable on all purchases unless you qualify for a<em> personal exemptions.<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If you have been outside Canada for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Less than 24 hours:\u00a0<\/b><em>Personal exemption<\/em> does not apply<\/li>\n<li><b>24 hours or more:<\/b>\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">$200.00 CAD<\/span> worth of goods free of duty and tax &#8211; any more then a<em> $200.00<\/em> value and all duties and taxes will apply.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><b>48 hours or more:\u00a0<\/b><em>$800.00 CAD<\/em> worth of goods free of duty and tax<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Children, no matter what age, are eligible for personal exemptions so long as the goods are being declared for their own personal use.
